I need opinions on this 1972, I cant find any variety listed that looks like this coin so it leads me to believe that either its a new one 721.jpg 722.jpg 723.jpg 724.jpg 725.jpg 726.jpg 727.jpg 728.jpg 729.jpg or one I cant verify. More than likely it took a hit on several parts of the date but I wanted to see what everyone else thinks.

I'm going to say a bit of Die Deterioration on the date. That's just my opinion.

Flat, shelf like doubling on each side of upper loop if the 2 leads me to believe that this is none other than machine doubling. I do not see any notching on the date digits to lead me to believe otherwise.

It does have master die doubling.. nearly half the mintage has it though.

I believe you both are right. Flat like on the serif of the top left of the 2

The left side of the 2 in the date as well as the bottom of the 7 appear to have taken hit. MD'ind or other types of doubling would normally follow the basic contour of the device. The area's in question on this coin do not.
