The feather vane runs straight down the center of the top feather. On Type 2 coins, it rests on the bottom of the feather.</p><p><br /></p><p>Lastly, look at the crater on the top right instead of focusing on the crater below it. I always considered it as Type 2 since:</p><p>1. Type 2 is commonly associated with the more expensive IKE&#039;s</p><p>2. The variety was only discovered in 1999 well after the term Type 1 (for the reverse style) was deeply entrenched into the numismatic community. (i.e. 1972 Type 1, 1972 Type 2, 1972 Type 3 where Type 1 directly corresponds to the reverse type of the first known die design.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
