hello all I found this 1971 Kennedy half with the reverse error or something this is between the {A&M}in America what looks to me as a raised or misplace I or 1 or die break I am not sure this coin shows a lot of die wear on both O&R of the coin along with coin rolling damage on the O any thoughts? under the {E} in states is another raised marking the lines that come from the eagle are missing maybe grease in the die
because a break is not going to be a straight line and every coin die break that I have seen has not been a straight line but I will take it as a die break you all are the expert's
I am by far not an expert, but die breaks occurring at the end of a feature (the ray) are most common, and this one has a start at being a straight line because of the nature of the feature (a straight line).
so a star is a strait line>? this starts at the top of star not the ray and the width of the break that allso can be a straight line? could this be a die gouge form something on the die before this coin? so a die break can 90-degree bends? @cpm9ball thanks Chirs I could not thinks of another word for it
Looks like a die break but with that roll wrapping damaged on the obverse the coin is only worth face value.
