    Hi guys,

I have this 1971 D Jefferson Nickel and notice a wide indentation on the obverse running through Jefferson's head and would like to know if this is a die clash? I would also like to know what is the raised bump on the reverse running through the "O" in the word 'Monticello"?

    Looks more like ghosting.

I don't understand what is Ghosting? Can you please explain further. OR is there an article I can read about this somewhere?

I would try, but @paddyman98 will do a better job.

Technically, ghosting is called Progressive Indirect Design Transfer. Here is a link to the error-ref write up.

BTW: www.error-ref.com is worth bookmarking. You can learn a lot by just skimming through it
