I have shown this Quarter in the past but I decided to repost because I just got back from the Cincinnati expo and got confirmation that it is a rare date as Mike Diamond previously stated on the last thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1971-d-quarter-on-dime-stock.301280/. I am going to wait until I decide what to send with it so the shipping fee's aren't so bad. I was given advise about this coin but advise from this forum would be nice as well. This coin may not be the only one in existence but it is however the only known one from my research from multiple sources including eBay, Heritage auctions and all of the grading companies. How do you determine value on a coin that is a possible 1 of a kind? .
I have had the issue of possible body bag brought up that mine has to many rim dings due to coin counter if I was to submit.
Should be able to get it net graded or details graded. The important thing with this piece is just to have it certified as to authenticity.
The weight is good. That's one hurdle anyway. As for 1 of a kind. It's certainly rare, but if a quarter planchet was punched out of dime stock at least 1 entire sheet was done this way. How many quarter planchets can be cut out of a sheet, IDK (40?).
