Hi guys, It's literally been months since I chatted with you all, so i hope all is well. Will you guys be kind enough to help me evaluate this 1970 s to determine whether or not it's the Small date version. The curl of the 9 points more towards the 7 . 7 in date appears to be level with the other numbers up top. I don't know what do you think? How much is a small date worth anyway?
If the curl of the "9" points toward the base of the leg of the "7", it is a large date. If the curl of the "9" points toward the middle of the leg of the "7", it is a small date. Chris
The curl on this 9 is angled in such a way in your photo that looks like it is going across, but it actually is pointing down at the foot of the 7. (See photo.) Try shooting birds eye view straight on and larger. The 7 is not high enough. (See photo.) LIBERTY is very well struck. (See photo.) There is a premium for the 1970-S small date, but I don't have a price.
Why ask me? All of the penny oddities that I have are only worth face value as far as I'm concerned. Chris
Your coin is a large date. There is a premium for the small date. https://coinauctionshelp.com/lincoln-cent-value-memorial/
I see the price list is for MS coins, are there listed values for circulated 1970-S small date (and 1960 small date).
