Definitely a small date. Very nice
That is cool to find a small date still in the mint cello.
Is it a P + D mint set?

 

Could you educate Meow on the variances of the 1970? Is one type very hard to find and a lot more valuable?

 

Meow can only educate meow. Small date= pointed 9 / low 7 / Flat spot inside 0 @ 1 o'clock, And weak Liberty. Large date=50¢ / Small date= $50. so says red book.

So they only happen in S mint proofs? P/D/S Business not affected?

@MeowtheKitty I got this one from An uncirculated set. and I did not know that they also came with a 40% Kennedy half dollar

 

IMO it looks like the Small Date. The uncirculated mint set was the only way you could obtain the 40% silver Kennedy Half.
