Hi. I'm trying to catch up on this hobby after about 50 years away from it, and learning a lot about errors & varieties. I recently purchased a nice 1970 S small date cent, and think it may be a doubled S mint mark? If so, maybe this is pretty common with the small date 1970 cents?

I don't see this with my large date S mint cent.

Nice small date. Welcome to the forum. Not an RPM or MD. The mint mark looks like die deterioration doubling to me. Maybe different shots with your camera might shed a different light on it.

    Welcome Mackwork!

I will have to agree with rockdude. The die flow lines I see in your picture are very indicative of die deterioration. however, better pictures could prove us wrong.

What is dmm. Double mint mark? Dual mint mark?
    Here's a great read for RPM's and OMM's.
