Merged the other (redundant) thread about the same coin into this one. The duplicate was in the Error Coins forum. This isn't an error coin. No need for two threads.
@Ikw - don't feel bad- after 42 years in numismatics I have to confess that still can't reliably tell the difference between the LD and SD varieties of the 1970-S cents, even after looking at the comparison photos sometimes. I guess I just don't care enough. When varieties are this subtle, they're just not important to me. Mind you, that's just me. Plenty of people do care about subtle or tiny varieties. I'm just not one of 'em. Gimme something more obvious, I say!
The only ambivalent one was the last legit small date in the forum. It was a tweener. Otherwise I don't think it's a difficult read in most cases.
Sez you. But to me, it's kinda like those so-called "magic eye" posters (autostereograms). On rare occasions I can see the "hidden image" in 'em- briefly- and blurrily. But most of the time I just can't see what I'm supposed to see in the daggum things, at all.
Hey its not easy. Read post 7. I have trouble too. But if you read post 7 and try to follow what mike's saying it will only help you to see what it takes to find a coin that is extremely hard to find. I'm not even there yet. But i know the 9 and liberty are the key helpers
I once had a bad experience with a repeating pattern bathroom floor using small tiles. That floor jumped right up to like 2 feet from my face.
obvious large date. an easy way for me to tell is the location of the 7. is it level (small date) or is it lower (large date).
