Yes, large date. The inside curl of the 9 points to the bottom of the 7 , rather than the middle and the 7 has a faint angled line where the horizontal top joints the vertical support. Jim
I am looking at what the red book it says 1970 S small date has a high 7 the large date has a low 7. It doesn't say anything about the number 9 it looks like your 7 is equal to the 0 large date is below the 0 going by the pictures in the red book {our bible} looks like small date.

I agree with Jim and mikenoodle that this is a large date. I have fallen into the trap of only looking at the 7 and 0. I believe the shape of the 9 is a better diagnostic tool.
