Hi! I’ve recently started looking at my coins and doing online research. I noticed that my 1970 D Quarter may have some doubling. I’m not sure if that’s an error or variation. I notice a slight difference mainly in the neck/lower neck. The face itself seems fairly thick compared to others, but I’m not sure if that just happens with ware. I also added a photo of my 1984 D Quarter to compare the neck. The 1984 Quarter also seems interesting since the D looks to be almost completely filled in and the letters are very thick and close together. I would love any advice/knowdlege!
Keep looking sis. There R diamonds in the rough just waiting to be found. I do like abe's new look. Save it. It's different
Doubled Die are considered varieties. Filled mint marks are either Die Chips or circulation wear.. I don't think you have a Doubled die.
There are three doubled die obverses known for the 1970-D quarter. They are shown here- http://varietyvista.com/09b WQ Vol 2/DDO Detail Pages/1970DDDO003.htm
