1970 D Jefferson nickel

    20190618_005040.jpg So this nickel in particular stuck out to me. The initials FS look big and close together and the indents on his face look bold ? Any ideas

    They look a little flattened to me, is all? Maybe they were flatly struck to begin with, or maybe they just got rubbed down a bit in circulation, or both.

    It probably was just a really nice strike. It's all moot now that it circulated though.
