Well, I'm kidding of course, but the uber-timid way that many newbs have of not asking implied questions in that inimical passive-aggressive way just drives me buggy. To me, it's the logical extension of the vocal pattern of "up speak". I want people to rid society of that "hey, do you think that just maaaaaybe" zeitgeist. Speak clearly, speak proud, and speak without raising your pitch at the end of a sentence. I have argued cases in court, including a state Supreme Court, and they don't care for timidity. Confidence is E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. There are lots of guys on talk radio who speak non-stop nonsense, but many people BELIEVE them just because of the vocal confidence they project.
The forum doesn't force anyone to answer any question asked. If it is a member you often joust with, fine, give a sarcastic or uppidity ( as my mother used to say) answer without answering or defining the question. But if a person isn't sure, inebriated, ran out of meds, or just plain angry that the grand 'ol opry isn't on TV, why not just keep quite until you are better ? This isn't the playground in a grade school where the alpha males show off. Here the alpha males and females are those that can reasonably answer a question with some expertise. So if you were being censured by a supreme court, you would want a lawyer who was confident, but had no idea of what he/she was doing rather than a lawyer who wrote the book on it, but was timid? Seems like a current fad these days, bluster over rides knowledge.
