The rim in the area of LIBERTY looks different, does it have anything to do with the great mechanical doubling of LIBERTY? (and back of head) 1969scrp.jpg 1969sfullobve copy.jpg 1969fullrev copy.jpg

I would call it machine doubling.

For all the years I have been collecting coins I am sorry to say I am still a newbie at this. When they say it is a double die are there different types of doubling as above "machine doubling" or are they still all double die obs?

...and before @paddyman98 blasts you, the proper term is “doubled die”...because the error was created on the die...Spark

The raised line on the outer rim around 9 o'clock was caused by a slight misaligned die. The die was a bit too far right in the die holder, allowing the planchet metal to ooze up along the left side of the die.
