The 69 isn't. The S Mint mark has extra material and when I zoomed in you can see where the light strike is located. The 72 is there because it is the closest coin in year I have.
I am not sure if you have a DDO-002, because the pics aren't good enough But I am sure you DO NOT have DDO-001
In your thread title you are suggesting that there are 2 strikes. A light and a regular strike. Do you know and understand what a Doubled Die is? I will tell you what it is not.. it's not 2 strikes! It's Doubling on the Die itself which causes the appearance of Doubled Numerals and Letters. You have a normal 1969S cent... worth 1C
When you zoom in a lot you can see the light strike outline on the S and the 1969. I don't know if that is good error. Probably not. The S is not normal.
There was a lot of machine doubling on all of the circulation S cents from 1968-1974. More so up to 1972. There were also a lot of die chips in the bottom serif of the S. These were just poor strikes in general. I have found hundreds of these in both solid rolls and circulation finds but they do not carry any premium. Unlike the Susan Anthony dollar which had a clear S and a blob like S, in which case these were a design upgrade or variety.
Thanks. How about 1980' cents in great shape. Do you want to see them? I found a couple of really good quality ones. No errors just great condition.
It is your thread. Post what you like, I like Lincolns. To help out with your 69S. Strike Doubling can happen in any shape or form. Large flat shelf like doubling to minor (hard to see). I might even imagine that some or all of the doubling you see could be Die Deterioration Doubling, This happens as the die strikes more and more coins. Here is a site that might help with identifying Errors. www.Error-Ref.com
