1969 D cent, why do the NT look rolled at bottom

    My first thought would be post mint damage, possible contact with the rim of another coin.

    The more I look at it, I think so too. How it smooth it looks under the rolled up part confused me

    PMD, looks like it took a hit on the bottom end of those letters and pushed them upwards.

    The perfect hit. Sometimes, a hit can be so precise that you'd swear it wasn't PMD, and your coin is falling in that category, IMO.
