Howdy folks, I've been doing a little research and determined that this dime could possibly be the no S 1968 from San Francisco. It has a concave background and I was hoping to hear some feedback about the rim thickness /squareness in comparison with the Philadelphia version of the same dime Thots?
I'm a novice....... If a proof coin ever end up in circulation, how would you distinguish from a run of the mill Philli dime?
Frosty devices and mirrored fields.......even an 'impaired proof' (one that has been in circulation) will still retain most of these properties. Welcome to the forum Nicholas.
Even if fairly well circulated, you could notice the fields (flat background) of a proof that would still maintain some mirror character. Plus the rims of proof coins are really cut square, not rounded or chamfered as they are on circulation coinage.
No, no, no, you got it all wrong! A real no "s" dime says "United tate of America" , "E Pluribu unum", and "in God we trut"
