I'm really new to all this just been cramming slot info in my head in a long recent two weeks. This being said please take it easy . It's left a collection that seems to rather large and valuable. I think but Two Manny variables. So is this Penny seems to be to have many large chunks missing in dark areas of Penny. FYI if I can find help in selling this collection might be something to consider .
Welcome to the board. The pictures arent the clearest, but it appears to be damage that occured after it left the mint, so it would not be considered an error or have added value. If you have a large collection that you need evaluated, I would suggest trying to find a reputable Local Coin Store that offers appraisals. You would possibly have to pay a small fee for the appraisal, but its worth it to know true values. Many people are shocked to learn their coin collection isn't worth what they thought. Or of course you can keep posting coins here and the very knowledgeable members will help the best they can. Good luck.
sorry but could ask your opinion of this one also? so there seems to be no year? or could this be done after mint also?
Yes, another damaged coin. Not an error. It is very common. (Known as either a dryer coin or possibly a spooned coin, both things you can google if you really want to know more, but they are just forms of damage post-mint.) One thing to ask yourself on these type of things is: how could this have happened during the minting process?
Thank you. For replying ! I also have a 1898 six pence but had a hole drilled thru it. Sucks but is it even sell able ?
I don't know much about foreign coins, but a quick google search shows it is 92.5% silver, so even with a hole and its worn condition, it will always be worth at least "melt" value, looks like almost $2 roughly at the moment. Silver is silver. Start a "junk" silver jar.
Welcome to cointalk No need for me to say anything about your coin you already got good advice. Welcome aboard Dave
Oh OK I got him mixed up. Geeze it's like the first mistake I made here in 16 years and you gotta go make a federal case out of it.
