<p>
I was looking through a roll of pennies, when I came across a 1968 D with some odd qualities. On the obverse side the portrait of Lincoln is raised quite a bit more than usual, on the reverse side there is a very clear indentation exactly where the portrait of Lincoln is on the obverse side. I'm curious as to why this may be and if anyone has heard of an error such as this?</p><p><br /></p><p>Here are some images I was able to scan in on the left is the coin in question on the right is a normal 1968 D</p><p><br /></p><p>I'd just like to note that I'm in no way an expert on coins or errors I really just started, so I can use all the help I can get.</p><p><br /></p><p><a href="http://s1130.photobucket.com/user/pup-squeak/media/penny2_zps10f230c5.png.html" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://s1130.photobucket.com/user/pup-squeak/media/penny2_zps10f230c5.png.html" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m528/pup-squeak/penny2_zps10f230c5.png" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></a></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><a href="http://s1130.photobucket.com/user/pup-squeak/media/penny1_zpsb3ca2306.png.html" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://s1130.photobucket.com/user/pup-squeak/media/penny1_zpsb3ca2306.png.html" rel="nofollow"><br /></a></p><p><a href="http://s1130.photobucket.com/user/pup-squeak/media/penny1_zpsb3ca2306.png.html" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://s1130.photobucket.com/user/pup-squeak/media/penny1_zpsb3ca2306.png.html" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m528/pup-squeak/penny1_zpsb3ca2306.png" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></a>
</p><p><br /></p>
