We'll soon see if it's a doubled die or not. Then we'll know who was right and who was wrong.

I think it is time to stop the personal conflicts. It was interesting up to about the beginning of the low 40s number of posts, turned bad in the middle 40s and got just plain foul in the late 50s. Fine, everyone has a "My expert is better than your expert" opinion. Our thought is that your posts are mainly what you opinion, not what you think non-posters in the thread would think. It was fine as long as the coin was the object of the discussion, and not individuals. The last portion was more about individuals, some being members here. It is said that better photos are coming from the current owner of the coin, so lets take a pause until such arrives. I am leaving the thread open for that event, Then you can crush or praise the coin, but leave individuals alone, or I will deal with it, and with the violator(s).

    Thanks Jim

Jim...are you really going to censor this thread on the forum?

Larry, and all, as long as the posts stay on the subject of the OP coin and related opinions, I have no need. But if it gets back to personalities, especially people who are not directly involved in the thread ( by posting), then yes, I will. Wexler, Potter, Diamond, etc.are well respected individuals and their opinions ( Whether one agrees or not) have always been welcome, but no one ( especially members) should have to post to defend their reputation. I hope I understood your question. No one has been dinged to this point, and won't be as long as they stick to the coin. No, I don't intend to delete the thread, as there is useful debate, however I will close it if repeats of personal conflict happen.

I would hope so Jim. Ad hominem attacks should never be tolerated. I'm sorry that I said anything that brought them about.

Waiting for those photos. Have you received the coin yet?

Not sure. All my coins ship to my post office box, and that gets picked up once a week. So..if it came this week, I'll have it tomorrow when I make a trip to the post office.

I now have the coin, and as evidenced by the original photos it is a doubled die. The doubling is seen on ERTY, IGWT, the hair under the R and 67. As seems to happen more often with Kennedys than any other series, there is also a class II DDR that shows on AMERICA and the right side, outer stars. From the original pictures, with the obverse, I thought there would be more separation on TRUST. When I first looked at it, I thought there might be some class VI thrown in as well given the distortion, but upon further examination it appears to be a shallow hubbing of the class II.

Nice work, Jody. The doubling is clear as day in those photos. Well done.

I think Lee described it the best.

Congratulations to the seller for finding someone to pay more then three times melt value for this coin.

    As far as:

That dog just won’t hunt. The four coins that you listed, the 1964 DDO-013, DDO-016, DDO-023 and DDO-025 show substantial more doubling then the last set of photos that you posted (as seen in Larry’s pictures even of less magnification).

I guess it comes down to individual standards. If someone wants to get all goggled eye over some minute doubling that can only be seen under a microscope then knock yourself out but don’t try to tell me that this doubling is as strong or stronger then other Kennedy half dollar varieties listed by CONECA.

As far as Jody’s other comment:

The best way to reply is to give another quote:

I removed your quote as it was strictly cut/paste from a source with no credit given,

And as you seemed to be intent on continuing the problem,I closed the thread.
