    I may never know lol 10 cents invested so far. Lays flat, no discoloration.

    Looks to me like it is.

    The straight edge reaches into the field where the coin is thinner, yet seen from the edge, the thicker rim does not taper off to the smaller dimension between obverse and reverse fields.

    Not a straight clip. The obverse has a raised edge at the clip site. This raised metal can only happen if the collar is pushing metal back towards the die. Or the die is pushing it up againt the collar. Depending on how you see it.
    I believe someone has filed or sanded some of the edge off.
