not sure what I’m seeing here but there seems to be surface issues around the date IGWT, on the reverse around the torch... or am I seeing things?

Yes this dime has been in circulation for 55 years.
it has seem a lot of dirt, grime, circulation wear, nicks, scratches, gouges, and such.

Imagine if you used the same car everyday for 55 years what it would look like if you treated it the same as people treat coins.

I did think about that, and this coin is actually one of the nicer condition 1965 dimes I’ve ever had if not the nicest. Usually the devices are worn completely flat obverse and reverse.

I have many really nice old dimes.
I've put aside change since the early 1970s.

I’ve been doing it about a year and a half now. But you don’t think there’s anything unique about this coin, just old and semi worn out basically?

well, let's trace some information about it.

    (1) from https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/dimes/roosevelt/
they made 1,652,140,570 of those dimes.
    Yes 1.6 BILLION

there is no Doubled Die listed on that site or any other rarity.

    (2) the little squiggly lines you see to the left of the date are the Designer Initials.
read your Redbook description about the dime.

    (3) If you know nothing about errors, the first place to check is eBay
just search for "1965 P dime error"
    and gosh .. basically NOTHING
    no errors, nothing slabbed, zippo.

So this tells us that there is really nothing out there on this year/mm dime.

    (4) if you google it .. the only thing I come up with are essentially potential silver 1965 dimes as 1964 was the last year for silver coinage. But these webpages could be clickbait as they are very short with no information and advertising all around the one paragraph of text.

    (5) So if you weight it .. from usacoinbook.com again ... or a RedBook
    silver would be 2.5 grams
    clad would be 2.27 grams
take into account wear, etc ... and knowing how to look for clad/silver .. which yours looks a dirty clad to me ..

in searching apparently only a few silver ones have been found in the past 55 years. But I am *not* finding that info on any real website (pcgs.com) so I don't know if it is pure speculation (clickbait fodder) or what not ...

    (6) So I have to ask .. what do you see is "unique" about your dime ??

Did you weigh this on an accurate scale that goes to at least 2 decimal places? Silver 1965 dimes and quarters exist but are very rare. Most/all would have been discovered after 55 years. If you have such a coin and wish to sell it, you would have to have it authenticated first, and then I would image something like a Heritage Auction.
Even if it weighs 2.5, it is more likely a thicker clad dime than a silver 1965. To post a photo click UPLOAD A FILE, click your file for the photo, and Full image. Be sure to show the edge/rim as well as the coin on a scale. And then of course check your scale weight with other clad dimes.

I thought I read once that '64 Silver Dimes were made until '67 ???

Well definitely through 1965 and I believe a little into 1966.
But he claims it is a 1965 on a silver planchet. Possible, but unlikely.
