So I spent a lot of time and little money. </p><p><br /></p><p>The irony is that I started promoting clad back in 1986 and my collection has suffered a little for it.&nbsp; I haven&#039;t worked that much on the collection itself since then so the later dates are spread around in safety deposit boxes.&nbsp; </p><p><br /></p><p>Until 1972 I didn&#039;t actually save&nbsp; the clads and just watched them in circulation.&nbsp; I&#039;m almost certain I spent a couple of rarities including a 1971-D DDR.&nbsp; I had noticed several coins struck with proof reverses and spent those as well.&nbsp; Before 1972 brand new coins would sit in storage for many years and then come out.&nbsp; It seemed a waste to collect them.&nbsp; But in &#039;72 they changed their procedures and coins no longer sat in storage.&nbsp; The clads are all wearing out fairly evenly because the government isn&#039;t sitting on them for decades or even years.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
