Congratulations on finishing the set and thank you for the kind words. I've found a lot of nice Gems in rolls over the years. Some dates are hard to find clean in the mint sets so rolls are the best place to look. And, of course, there are no options for the '82 and '83 issues. I still believe the nice attractive BU's will have their day because there aren't many of them but for now it does seem only the Gems and superb Gems get much interest. Populations fall off rapidly as you go over the MS-64 level. There may not be many nice attractive MS-64's but few realize just how scarce this makes MS-66 or MS-67.
Whew, i'm that sure is a great relief. Now I'm just focusing on acquiring only washington quarters because I know that they are going to be gone in a few years and that I couldn't possibly afford the MS versions. Today I just got a few changes of two 1965, 1971P, 1982P, 1983D, 1986D, 1991D, 1993D, three 1994D, 1995P and 1996D. Will add these to my collection. Thank you for sharing your collection.
I love searching for nice attractive clads in circulation. Now days a lot of the older coins are almost invariably heavily worn and many are culls with dings, bangs, and severe corrosion.
By accident a lady from a grocery store found me my first 1941 silver. It is still in very good condition but it sure is worn out considering it's been in circulation for almost 77 years. Older than me LOL. My second silver was a 1964 and it is in very fine condition and I paid the lady from the donut shop for $3.00. I only have two silver and the rest is clad. Now I have more than 1400 pieces mostly from 1965 to 1998. Next week or two I'm looking to acquire about 7 rolls of washington quarters and I'm exited about it. I was laughing at my kids when they saw my collection and the kids said that we are rich and I was just laughing little did they now the small relative value of the quarters that we have was under $500....LOL....they have no clue about these quarters.. I'm just having fun.
This is big accomplishment as I know it does take lots of money to acquire mint state collection. I have decided just to focused on clad inventory and moving forward to some collection. My hand goes out to all of you who have collect these as they represent enjoyment and Pride of your hard earned money.
These are my adds for today. These coins will be taken off the circulation. I'm lucky to still see some 1965. 1970s are surely disappearing.
Went to CVS and kindly ask the cashier and found these: 1966, 1979D, 1980, 1984D, 1991D, 1992P, Two 1992D, 1993D, 1993P, 1997D. These coins are taken out of circulation and hidden for the next 20-30 years..
These are my collection rolls so far. 1965,1967,1983D,1986D,1987D,1989D,1990D,1994D,1995D,1996D,1997D,1998D
Went go get some lunch and found 4 more. These quarters will be put away and will never see the light of day...
This is one ambitious collection, Robert! On the other end of the spectrum is me with a grand total of eight Washingtons in my collection, all in slabbed proof sets I put together. Go over and check out the Washington quarters thread if already haven’t discovered it! Welcome to CT!
All in Slab proof sets..that must be awesome and amazing collection. I sure would like to see that. I will look for it. Thank you very much for sharing your collection. I'm not aiming for anything except that I'm just having fun with just picking them up as I can and when I can. No pressure and no need to be stressed about it. If one day, I'm not able to collect them, this will lead me to another U.S. coin... Happy Collecting...
Not great pic but, i thought I'd share. All brilliant uncirculated and proof. by the way i would not recommend Littleton coin albums.
Bravo! Collecting for the love and interest! I have a suggestion for you, this is how I made my Lincoln cent roll set collection: Buy a box of plastic, square tubes like these and label the tops with each issue: Once you fill the tube, sort through it putting the nicest coins you find in the bottom. When you find a nicer one, you can look at the top few coins to check it's better than those - if it is, discard the worst coin in the roll and keep the new one. After awhile and occasionally, resort the roll - putting the best ones in the bottom again. I've been doing this for many years and I now have an incredible set - all mint state and mostly MS-65+ coins from 1959 up.
