That's what jobs are for. You're playing the lottery buying and selling coins.

Well I'm new to the hobby and I can tell you I'm in the hole on all the coins I have bought, well a few I would have made good money on but I bought those other one's I just had to have.

But has my wife tells me all the time at least you have something to show for it with the money you spend, you where going to the casino 5 day's a week and had nothing to show for it.

So I guess if I look at it her way then I'm making money, at least I have something I can look at and enjoy. Lol

That’s not true at all. I have been buying and selling coin for 2 months now. My grandfathers collection I’m asking how
Much because I want Tonweed our what’s worthless and what I should keep and pass on. I’m not here to make
Money I’m here to learn from you guys and have your knowledge passed onto me. I’m in the learning stages. Sorry for eh stupid questions. But I am a true collector. Id you saw what I have you would understand. Yes sometimes i post things on eBay but that’s items I buy cheap and can make a profit for my car fund. I’m going through some personal and physical stuff right now. So I’m trying to keep busy and not let my hands be idle. I’m sorry you feel that way. I’ll delete my account and. It bother you anymore. Sorry.

I agree. I’m not a gambler burnindi buy coins and bullion. I’d they accept my ridiculous offer then I buy it if not oh well. I’m new to this collecting and I ha physical issues and problems. And this was a hobby to help me stay sober and everyone ostracized me for asking questions. I’m gonna delete my account and stop bothering everyone. Have dunnfood luck.

If they set there auction for best offer. Then it’s meant to accept or deny offers. This is a hobby for me I only sell what I buy. My collection is. Or for sale. Like i said I will delete my account and no longer write posts. Don’t have to be hostile. Just tell it how it is without being an edited. I’m 30 years old with 2 kids and no mother so or if I have to do what i have to do what i have to do to provide for my 2 kids I don’t care how i do it. If you were a single dad and your wife suddenly died and you had to quit your job then make edited assumptions. I do what I have to in order to put food on the table and clothes on their backs. Sorry if I offended people by being a newbie. Just say your not willing to coach or teach. I take it this site is not for beginners. I’ll leave you all alone have a good life.

Oh, well.... a whole two months? That makes all the difference then. My endless apologies for not realizing you were so vastly experienced.

You mean like you are here? I hate to break it to you, big guy, but you're not the only one dealing with problems. The difference is some of us don't use our problems as an excuse or throw them out there in a lame attempt to make others feel bad over giving a little real world advice.

If you want to run away over nothing, feel free, but if even half of what you said is true, does it really make sense to do so? I owe you nothing, nor will I apologize for what was clearly intended to hopefully make you think instead of potentially make things even worse. Sorry, but I don't play the edited game. Leave or stay it makes no difference to me.

@Jamesb411 Collectors may have a price for every coin in their collection, but it is usually so extremely high that someone would never pay it, only an assumed dealer would have his whole
"collection" for sale. Sure seems to me that you are trying to be a dealer, and not a collector.

Why would you quit your job that was paying for the roof over your kids head, to try to be a coin dealer?

I get it being a single father isn't easy, I am sorry for your loss.
If I didn't have my job. I wouldn't have my kids in my life.
Yes, I am a single father, I take care of three. I drop them to school and pick them up. make their lunch, cook them dinner, put them to bed, then do it all over again. But there is no way even after the years of knowledge I have coin collecting, would I think that I could do it full time and make the money needed to support my children.

Might I add that low balling the guy on ebay, who probably needed the money just as much as you do? Do you really think that is the honest, and upright approach to doing business?

If your cent has deep cameo devices on both sides and is not spotted or hairlined and is not toned, then it's worth money, but nearly all 1964s do not have these qualities. If you plan on keeping the coin, then store it in an air tight plastic holder. If these early proof coins are left in OGP they are prone to hairline scratches and ugly toning if stored or handled improperly.

don't know the man's situation, but with two kids being a single father. And depending on the age of his children, daycare can cost up to $250 a week per child. I don't know if he's gotten help from the state, or what state he is in, but even going through those channels can be difficult when you're a single father. Trust me I know I just went through something very very similar. Only in my case I was ordered not to leave my daughter alone with her mother. I had to care for her 24/7. And when you are in a situation where you have no friends, that could help out, not that I expect any of them to, or no family living with you. It is very difficult. In my situation I was forced to quit my job, and when I asked DSS how I'm going to provide for my child if she's got to be in my care 24/7 how can I work to provide? The DSs worker told me quote "I don't know that's your problem." There is a discrimination against single fathers versus single mothers, I know, I just experienced it over this past year. But yes he is foolish if he thinks he can buy coins and instantly flip them. I had to sell my whole coin collection once I was told I had to be around my daughter 24/7 and couldn't work anymore. Now a year later things have turned around, new place to live, moved back to the state I grew up in, I have family here, and most importantly, employed again. But it took a year. Good luck to the OP.

There is no doubt that the state has always catered to the women, I have been fighting the state for many years over it.
It seems like a never ending battle. And only recently have I gotten help from family, my youngest is nine. We separated when he was eight months old. It's called sacrifice, and if that means ramen bread and beans, then so be it. It really does get easier. Putting your head down and your hands to work is the only way to hold your head high going through it.
    I was always told "CAN'T" isn't a word. it's an excuse.

I commend you for doing what most guys wouldn't, And am glad you hung in there. being a single parent is not easy.

I am also sorry for the OP's loss. I can't put myself in his shoes, losing forever the Mother of his children and his Love, I can't imagine the heart ache that he is going through. Cut throating someone else, in order to make yourself better. In my opinion is the wrong thing to do. There are plenty of other ways to make a buck.

Why is the nickel a 64-D and the cent from Philly?
Is this is just some set that someone put together from circulation?
