Do you send in the whole set for grading so they can attribute the SMS?

    Yes, go for it.

You have an SMS and you’re rich now!

Congratulations. Enjoy the multi thousand dollar payday.

    Good job, you’ve done it!

The only sets released were SMS sets, and were titled as such.

I am just looking for clarification. If the coins are broken out of the SMS set, then the coins are no longer considered SMS. Right?

No. They will always be SMS.

Sorry for mistagging you last time.

SMS refers to a minting process. As I understand it, the coins were subjected to a finer treatment than standard unc coins, but not a super treatment like proofs got.

For example, while a proof blank is polished multiple times and struck at least twice, the SMS coins were struck only once (I believe).

Breaking up a SMS set would be like breaking up a proof set, each individual coin is still considered SMS even if it’s not within the original holder.

SMS coins only came in special SMS packaging direct from the mint.

Ok think I've got it now. Attractive coins but not special mints. Thanks

They will still be SMS coins, the problem is whether or not they can be recognized as SMS coins. lower end SMS coins look like good quality business strikes, not like something "special".
