Ok guys these are sore pretty coins. If the pics didnt turn out good I'm sorry I'm a little under the weather and shakey. What am I actually looking at here? Should I take them to my local rip off or send them off to someone to get graded? Or spend some of them? Payed 150 for the set. Let-r-rip tater chip
So let me ask you a question: You pay 150 for the set and didn't actually know what you were looking at?
They're all proof coins. If you can get a refund you should do so asap. Check eBay and you'll find plenty of 1964 Proof sets for sale, still in their original US Mint packaging. IMO proof coins are really beautiful.
Sorry that was supposed to be 1.50 haven't looked on ebay yet but I will loose 1.50 to kids. Not gonna worry about a refund. Lol
$1.50 good! You had me worried there for a minute. Yes, people get them graded. You will need grades of 67 or better to make it worth it.
The 1964 Proof Set from the mint cost $2.10. You got a deal 55 years later. I had a set but gave it to my oldest son who was born in 1964.
Very happy to see it was a typo. Great deal for $1.50. People do get them graded but IMO it's not worth it unless you have a Deep Cameo or Ultra Cameo. Your coins are not cameo.
Well that's better. Good thing I was sitting when I opened this thread. At $1.50 you got a screaming deal. At $150 you got ripped big time. They are all proof coins. None of them are worth grading. Just put in a flip and be pleased.
That's one of the reasons I even looked at them and when they said buck fifty I ask why so cheap after I got them. They said they didnt know anything about coins. They also say they got a bunch of coins. We exchanged numbers. Lol
I'd still be suspicious of a loss leader scam. Even if someone "doesn't know anything about coins" it only takes 5 seconds to look them up on the net and see what they are worth. I would be super wary about a second transaction. It's like when the 3 card monty team let's you win the first hand and then you wonder where are your money disappeared too. As for the 1964 set they are good, but outside of the protective packaging, they are not going to remain in that condition very long once kids start getting fingerprints on them, banging them around and spending them.
I'm guessing you put them in a plastic holder. Originally they came heat sealed in a clear plastic film holder. Photo attached. https://www.govmint.com/1964-united-states-proof-set
I think I paid less than $25 for both my proof and mint sets. I see there is a later entry saying $1.50, not $150. Great deal!
