Something looks off on those pics? The color/finish just doesn't look right to me. It might be these tired old eyes, but that reverse looks odd.
The photos are a bit 'washed out' with too much light, but it does appear that the coin was polished/cleaned in the past - which might explain the initials missing. Another set of photos, and a close up shot of the areas in question would be very helpful.
