I believe he is referring to this Ron Guth paragraph:

    Ron Guth:
One of the interesting diagnostic features of the Specimen Strike 1964 Half Dollars is a small, raised defect that appears to hang from the crosslet of the 4. This defect has been seen on all examples except one. In an admittedly rare hypothtical situation where one of these remarkable coins was spent, the defect can be used to confirm the original status of the coin.

For the record there are 11 graded examples at PCGS and 7 at NGC

Thanks for the assist, I wanted to give James a chance to clarify his comments. I don’t know him, and I don’t know you, but I do know you to be rather knowledgeable in the areas you choose to engage in. His comments were rather surprising and in my opinion insulting. Your response perhaps further demonstrates how incorrect he was in saying you don’t do your research.

    uhmm, me coin is 12,69gr...
a technical question to the experts but if a 12,50gr coin contains 0,19gr (12,69) in more they would be 1,5% more in metal, here this metal must be visible in some part in the coin, where in the reliefs? thickness? width? ... well it is an important quantity 1.5% !!! ... maybe a stupid question but I'm not an expert and I'm curious about it. Thank you for your answers

Judging from all of the "MS65" and "DMPL" coins that you have already found, that will probably be tomorrow. Right? If and when you do, please direct your inquiry to James Williams via "Start a Conversation".

the forum is a center for exchange of speeches may be valid or invalid and there are experts and non-experts inside and no one forces you to answer if you think a discussion / opinion is ridiculous, in this way you write how YOU ARE insulting others, Go make a chamomile tea

I would only be insulting to others if they knew what they were talking about. In your case, there is no insult.

Most of the folks that have replied in this thread, lived the history of the SMS Kennedy Half. They know and understand the coin. They gave you the truth.
In my opinion there is nothing about your coin that would make me think it's an SMS.

It's more the thought that we don't know anything/ I mean how many years of accumulated knowledge do we share around here.
But hey Gianni if you want to listen to the HYPE then that is your own right.
I would like you to look at the accumulated post between those that have told you what you don't want to hear. And the one member that you want to believe.
It's your choice. Hopefully you understand what I am trying to get at.:)

it is not a problem to believe or not to what others say, I like to UNDERSTAND certain things to get into it. In my opinion, it is wrong to reduce a text message to a lacrina microscope in the 4th and I legs. A SPECIAL coin must have more or less to be defined so it must be recognized on 100 other coins which is special and this must be with the naked eye without the use of 10x lenses. For some this is too much but for me it must be so, if it is true that we worked on these tests the coins must logically present themselves as special (SMS) otherwise it was only a market speculation on 11 coins if we reduce them to micro details on 4 or I. This is a logical reflection of some of my exaggerations, but I think many would like to enter into the definition of SMS regardless of whether or not you have these pieces. Thank you, sorry me english

I think that a coin to define itself as SPECIAL must first be perfect with zero defects and present a type of novelty in the process and that DIFFERENCE TO NUDE EYE from the other 230milion. It is not possible to define SMS coins that have minting defects such as the extended 4 or the lame visible with 10x lens. The experts define these coins and are classified as VARIANT with micro minting and non-special coin errors and have just 10% more value and not sold for 10 thousand dollars. If you want to continue to believe in the storks that the children carry you are free to do so if you want to learn more about the subject there may be so much that you do not know yet and that no one has said about these SMS coins that it was not a marketing found by NGC / PCGS
