I know wexler has 49 DDOs listed and only a couple of them have images . I couldn't find a match on any of the varieties site . Sellers images too .
Wow that's pretty cool. You have such good luck with this lol where do you live? You must be out in the sticks lol.
Looks like a tiny lamination. You can see where the surface on the top of the right side of the 3 has peeled off, and you can see where the edge of the "doubled 3" (inside the loop of the main 3) has a dark shadow, which leads me to believe it is ever so slightly elevated from the surface of the coin. I think a thin layer of the lower portion of the 3 has peeled up and moved inside the lower loop. I bet you could remove it.
No the sliver being perceived as doubling. It starts near the middle point of the 3, at almost field level, then goes up and on top of the bottom point of the 3. That is because the sliver of copper is still attached at the bottom tip, but has peeled off of the right side of the curve of the 3. If you look closely, you can see where it is missing.
Ohhhhhhhhh I see. So you think that it isn't a doubled die but a lamination that appears to be a doubled die?
May be a lamination. I don't easily see damage that moved that sliver of copper but can't rule it out. But no, I'm all but positive it isn't a doubled die. It's a moved sliver of copper from the right side of the curve of the 3.
We have a problem Houston . Seller sent me one of the cherrypickers for this year, he has listed . Lets see what happens, I sent him an email telling him this and to check his inventory .
I agree with Jay, I do not believe it is a DDO either. Maybe die deterioration, appears some of similar on the top arm of the '3',
Seller has 3 of them listed . https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_od...-D+lin.TRS0&_nkw=1963+d+lincoln+cent&_sacat=0
