1963 Canada cent. Incomplete or defective planchet? What is this?

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Dave from the country, Jun 7, 2021.

  1. I hope I'm not being too active on the site but really appreciate the feedback. Can anyone offer any comments or suggestions on this 1963 Canada cent? I have never seen anything like it at all and think it may be an incomplete or defective planchet, but I really don't know. Many thanks. I dunno but it looks like a quick arc flash from maybe a plasma cutter. Those things tend to vaporize soft metals. It's kinda hard to tell from the pics but the edge of the affected areas look somewhat raised and melted which should rule out corrosive chemicals. But I'm new here so I would wait for the experts to weigh in, lol

Looks like heavy corrosion or acidic reaction just damage.

Not an error, I'm sorry to say.

Environmental damage. Was probably in the ground for a while. Guessing of course.

Before reading any of the post, my reaction was acid of some type, so PMD, not an error of any type.
