1962 Space Medal

    Almost looks like a gold painted washer with the legend "Space Medal / 1962" stencil painted onto it. Not sure what on earth it could be (or off earth, I guess).

    Uniface - the reverse has a bit of a rough finish but no apparent deliberate details.

    Interesting. I googled your item with no results. Looks to be simple Exonumia.
    It is definitely a washer, flat and rough on one side and rounded on the stamped side. Maybe created to be given out as an award? The font looks like a 1962 style of lettering.

    It did remind me of a type of error where coins were actually struck on washers!
