Please give feedback as to what this may be worth. It is a nicely toned 62 Franklin, obviously still in a proof set. Ignore the swirly lines around edges as they are on the plastic.

Toning on obverse is best, mostly right around his head. Reverse toning is lighter and more even. Wondering if it is worth getting graded?

    Thanks 20130826_205359_4 cropped.jpg 20130826_202648 cropped.jpg

dont think thats a proof set, believe thats an uncirculated set, proofs have "s" mintmark..

The S was not used that year.

Hi Ken, back then they made proof sets in Philadelphia, and they didn't give them mint marks. That started later in the 60's. Not sure exactly what year.

Oh well, so it sounds like it is worth about as much as any basic proof Franklin. Nothing too unusual.

It's not worth getting graded unless it has a strong cameo contrast. The later you go in the franklin series the higher the mintages get. Being a 62 the mintage for that guy is pretty high.

Okay thanks bsowa1029 for the valuable information. The coin looks nice, so I thought it may be more valuable than the typical 1962 proof, but probably not.

I just double checked. They made proofs only at the Philadelphia mint through 1964. From 1965 through 1967 there were no proof sets made, only "Special Mint Sets". Apparently they were made in San Francisco, but with no mint mark. From 1968 on, they have made proof sets in San Francisco with the S mint mark.
