I have been thinking about my answer and a few others on this thread, My thoughts have completely turned to struck thru or most likely PMD, as Paddy said. A clash would not show on the devices unless there was two planchets in the chamber. So, I did an experiment. These are 64 Lincolns I placed one on top of the other, Lincoln in coin alignment, with the reverse of the other and hit it with a Hammer, The evidence says the coin above cant happen at the mint unless it was Struck thru. IMG_3001.JPG IMG_3002.JPG IMG_3004.JPG The hammering left a much deeper impression of Lincoln into the memorial and the field IMG_3003.JPG Their is way too many of these cents out in circulation to not have left that way.
