Hello, I found this 1961p nickel while searching through bwr's. Can anybody guess how much this coin is worth? It is in great condition and appears to be a proof coin.

It could be a proof that escaped from a set. It happens occasionally as people break up a set and spend the coins. When one is found in a roll, it is called a circulated or impaired proof. One dated 1961 is worth between 50 cents and 1 dollar.

Those aren't worth very much unless they are in Gem condition.

That depends on two things the first is condition and mintage's . As for the 1961 D during the early sixties a lot of nickels were struck so again if your coin is MS yes save it to fill a hole in a set ,if not spend it ....it's worth a nickel.
The 1939 pretty much the same 120,615,000 were minted ,now if it's a 1939 doubled Monticello and five cents then even in good condition it has value as a variety .
May I suggest buying a Red book on coins. Lot's of information for a $10-15 purchase. Hope this helps.
