I was at my local Brick and Mortar today, with my Son (9).He works with me every other week. During the summer and after school. He makes 5 to 10 dollars a day. Depending on his effort.(He makes tips from the homeowners, also.)

So, anyways back to the story, I find this goergous Proof. He was getting it out of the case. Does his Hymn Haw. Oh, look at that! Looks at the price on the back. And, goes and looks at his grey sheet and threw me a 20$ on it. 20160729_200057.jpg 20160729_200418.jpg 20160729_201522.jpg 20160729_203907.jpg 20160729_203959.jpg He tossed, my son a Lou Gerrig, as part of his Buy.

A little Moral goes a long way. I will be stopping by his shop tomorrow, with coin in hand, just to make sure he read the label correctly.
Let him have the chance to make it right!

I commend you on a fantastic find and rock solid morals!
I don't know your relationship with your dealer but from experience I can tell you that once they know you are picking , they become very interested in everything you buy.
My local dealer and long time friend has become just a person I pick up supplies and large lots of coins from.

So I guess the only difference to add to this thread and it adds a small premium to the coin.
Is it an early or late die state?

I guess I don't understand what you are asking or saying. The original post says the dealer pulled this coin out of his case and then tossed in a Lou Gerrig with $20 over Sheet bid?

    Your son bought a coin.

The dealer asked $20 over bid for it and included a Lou Gerrig something or other in the deal yet you then state that you're going back to make sure the dealer read the label right and to allow him to "make it right".

    Make what right?

What price did you two pay for the coin?

Did you know what you were buying and what the price should have been?

Put me in the "A little clarity is needed" camp.

"I did not know what the coin was worth.
I was only gonna look at it, check the price".

-Which was a 51'Bowman "Jonny Hopp"-
