You can also find the word pennies on the mint website, that doesn’t make it proper. Pure semantics, I’m not sure if anyone really cares.
I’m pretty sure “Double Die Collection” is what someone named their registry set and not some official PCGS designation. You can name your registry set anything you want, within reason.
Correctomundo! They didn't create that registry set.. Someone else did using the incorrect terminology.
I did, it doesn’t come up. What you are not understanding is that is the name someone who owns that collection named their set registry. The name is not blessed or approved by PCGS. I could start a registry and call it Franks Super Fun Time Coin Extravaganza if I wanted to. If the coin is a Doubled Die then PCGS will attribute it on their label as a Doubled Die not Double Die. I frankly could care less about errors, varieties, and TPGs. What I do care about is that we maintain a common language and terminology for numismatics so people do not get confused when trying to properly learn.
The terms double die and doubled die have both been used forever. Some folks feel the need to act important and correct others over nothing. Everyone understands that it is the same thing. Same with cent and penny. Who the hell cares. Again, everyone understands either term. Next we have those that like to correct others spelling. Why do that on a coin forum? It's not needed. Correct members over wrong information in a friendly way and let the stupid stuff slide.
