1959 Peso - is it real?

    Jason, if its the Peso, I think it is. Its only 10% silver, really not worth much. And he did not even show the obverse.

    1 gram is about 1/28 th of an ounce.

    These coins were silver "washed" and can vary significantly in the amount of silver they contain. Don't buy them for silver and don't buy them for scarcity because they made millions and few have been melted.

    However if you can find nice attractive uncs at a fair price stash them away because they are not common in nice shape. They have to be unc though the '59 in good AU is OK too. This one is not nearly nice enough to bother with.

    Oh yea, I bought a couple from my local coin shop. He sold them to me for 75 cents apeice. They have a 20th of an ounce in them.
