Here is a 1959D Lincoln penny that appears to have a noticeable lamination error. With that said these 95% copper and 5% zink correct. Can you educate me on how they blind in the zink? Is it mixed with the copper in liquid form, then poured in sheets and then coin is punched. I'm trying to understand if the zink was blinded when both where in liquid form how this could be a lamination. I understand that the pennies follow 1982 are 97% zink with a 3% overlay of copper to keep it copper appearance. But prior the this as you know the metal composition is flip flopped. In addition if the pre 1983 pennies are processed the same only the zink being in the center of the coin then this 1959 penney has very little copper. I say this because generally a failed lamination of any kind takes place at joining of different composite. And what this coin be worth.
