I don't believe this to be a error but thought I'd share this and ask if anyone has seen this before. The surface of the coin is bumpy. Not in a bad way but I haven't seen this before. The toning is really nice. I took the reverse picture with the flash. To look at the coin it is amazing but with magnification you can clearly see the bumps. 20220121_015929.jpg 20220121_015911.jpg 20220121_014856.jpg

Other than a few little battle scars it excellent

Hey @Superloop. It Appears to be some sort of plating issue.;)

It looks like it was in a rock tumbling machine. The design lettering seem to be mushed down flat which makes them fatter looking.
It does not really have the same character features as a dryer coin, or and acid etched coin. I would consider it damaged and to have no value above face.

To look at it without magnifying it it shines and looks amazing. I agree with you though. It's a shame. Much appreciated.

Yep, tumbled/polished, somehow. Still a fun find, if you got it from circulation.

I did get it from circulation. I'm going to keep it in my collection just because it looks so good. Thanks!

May have been whizzed to clean it or shine it up. Here is one of mine that we have concluded was whizzed.

What is "whizzed"? (I'm a rookie on grading & terms.)

Plating on Cents didn’t start until they were mined from zinc in 1982. This date is .950 copper.

Looks like a grease issue in my opinion. Whatever, it's a very nice '58. Thanks for the look see. Good luck.

I've got one similar to that and was told it was maybe acid cleaned?

Appears to have been "cleaned" in a chemical solution and was left in too long, then polished. Just a guess on my part.
