Now that I have a new "toy" I've been able to get some good close up shots of this penny. This penny has been in this 2x2 since the early 60's at the latest when my dad was in high school. An earlier post I made which included this among many other coins suggested that this was just damage. Now that I'm able to get real close ups, I'm curious what everyone thinks. Is this likely to be a legitimate mint error or done in an effort to "fake" a mint error? I have a hard time thinking that someone would go to the effort of faking an error on a coin that was relatively young in the 60's, but hey, who knows. It does have a $10 price written on the back of the 2x2, so maybe that was enough money then to make the effort worth it? Either way, I don't get the "double rim" designation. If anything it seems like a missing rim or flattened rim...

If this is a fake job, I'm curious how this may have been done since it seems pretty clean. Vise?
