With the billions and billions of coins that have been in circulation added to the fact there's a near infinite number of ways for each to be damaged, you'll sometimes come across what may initially seem unlikely. Being newer to this there's certainly nothing wrong with setting examples aside, but the real "value" in doing so should be for learning purposes. The more you learn the more successful you'll be in this hobby. Welcome to the forum.
If you care to search past threads, I know there's a couple on copystands, including different examples of home built ones. I foolishly sold off my film equipment, including copystand, and ended up building one instead of paying up for one similar to that I sold. A square aluminum tube, a mounting bracket for it from the hardware store, and an old tripod head added to other assorted things I had laying around the house was all it took. While not as nice or exacting as a costly dedicated copystand, it certainly more than sufficiently served my needs and I'd guess would for most others as well. There's a photo of it in one of said older threads. Good luck.
I would still be using my homemade if I didn't find a used one at a estate sale. couldn't pass it up for the 10 to 15 bucks.
I too would much rather have still had my original actual copystand, but unlike you I wasn't fortunate enough to stumble upon another at a great price and wasn't about to cough up for a new one. I still have the one I built, but haven't had any reason to use it for over six years now, so in storage she sits.
@JorjeFresco64 Here's an old thread containing photos of a few different options/approaches including one of my old stand. Perhaps it'll help. Good luck! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/building-a-copy-stand.296393/
