1955 P proof question

    Nice but common mint state examples - probably MS-62/63. They are not proofs.

    The close-ups you posted later clearly show machine doubling, not the desirable hub doubling. MD is a common occurrence in minting and not worth a premium. Die deterioration doubling is also often found with MD. We get many posts from people that think they've "struck it rich" with the 1992 cent they found like this:

    Nice die crack! they are called cracked skulls.
    When searching varieties, Die cracks turn into die markers, they also signify a later die state coin.

    Doubled Dies are usually the same height and have some sort of separation line, and or notching in the devices.

    Yeah I've been reading on it. Still sometimes I get tricked! Trying to match up with variety vista. Still gotta go thru the rest of these...☠

    Make sure you check the entire roll for this doubled die in fact rarer then the famous one.look for the reference in the CPG fs-01-1955-12 I found 8 of them in a roll at about $750 each in red 64. Sweet:)
