1955 P proof nickel vs BU? how to tell

    14550801582381493979553.jpg 1455080216116-1099940990.jpg I cant tell. And im hoping maybe someone on here can educate me on how to tell the difference between 1955 business strikes and 1955 proofs from Philadelphia...

    This coin has lustre, but the fields are almost somewhere inbetween proof and business.

    I agree, it's not a proof. It's tough to tell someone how to tell the difference in words. If you go to ebay and check out the listings, I'm sure you will pick up on the difference in looks in a hurry. Sorry, I don't have the images to help.

    Not a proof. Look for the strike, squared edges, usually mirrored fields, sometimes cameo.

    Buy a proof set from the Mint. Look at a business strike, then look at the proof set. Keep doing this for a while, and it will eventually come to you.

    That really is a nice 38.

    Thanks for the help guys. I was leaning toward a business strike to begin with, but it was a little hard to tell with this one.
