Thanks for clearing up the mint mark issue. It sure makes sense that it is just the holder and not the coins. I will try to get a better photo, I don't however want to take them out of the holder at this stage. I will go with a better camera and try again for both sides. I know that even though they were appraised at a reputable coin shop that does not guarantee them authentic. If they were graded at one of the grading companies, would that clear up every doubt? Going back to the safe box on Monday. Thank you all, it is a wealth of knowledge for me. My father would have loved this site, he passed before sites like this existed. I did show him ebay, and coins on there, before he passed in 2001 The way he purchased coins in the 1960's was amazing. I call them 'gentlemen notes':smile I believe he would read in the trade paper of a coin available for sale. He would write a note and mail it, with all the 'formalities' --- Would the gentleman consider this price..... I am sorry to inform you that regrettably, this coin has been sold.... It must have took ages! I remember seeing many of these notes for coin deals. And I think it was a trust transaction through the US mail. You send the money and hope you get the coin. Think of that, nowadays every little thing is scammed in some way! Thanks again for the help, and I wish my father could have been in your ranks.
