1954-S Lincoln Wheat Cent - Error?

    Hi Folks,
    I came across this coin, and noticed something odd on it, especially near the "5" in the date. I tried taking the best shots I could, and I was hoping you can tell me what I am looking at on this coin.

    I know you did your best on the pics but in the last couple it appears to be the start of a die chip. The first few pics are just too blurred to actually say anything about them. Wait for the others to chime in.

    Yes most likely a die chip. These happened when a piece of the metal of the die came off, which means that the die wasn't in contact there, so the metal wasn't compressed to the right shape. It's considered as an error but nothing big as they are so common, even nowadays. If you get a huge die chip though, that can start becoming valuable.

    Die Chips is a common issue on Wheat Cents.
    Neat but nothing really major. Just a worn die issue.
