I have a 1954 S Jefferson with some extra material in the mint mark. Do you see a die chip or some other inclusion. Thanks.

Does it look raised, or is it a stain? ~ Chris

It looks like a die chip but it also could be the S/D variety. I posted a thread earlier. Can you try to compare?

On your certified S/D the there is a remnant of the D below the S. It sure looks possible though because the bar that I see on mine continues in the upper part of the S. It would be a strange die chip since the die chip should cover part of the S. But, strange things happen.

The 54-S/D & 54-S/S are pretty dramatic and look much different than the OPs coin. Unfortunately, I can’t find the photo of my 54-S/D. I will search for it and update the thread when I find it.
