Hello all! Has anyone ever seen a 1954 Proof Washington quartet with hand-engraved tail feathers? I am well aware of the 1952 and 1953, but have never seen a mention anywhere about a 1954 variety. But will going through some proof sets I am selling for a family friend, I found a 1954 that appears to have hand-engraved tail feathers very similar to ones I have seen on the 1952 variety. What do you guys think? If they are, is this a known variety?
Thanks for the reply...the Superbird was on the 1952 Proof with and without the hand-engraved tail feathers.
Sorry, I'm new here...what source should I be citing? I'm asking about a coin I have in hand that I can't find anything on the internet for.
This is the 1952 Superbird variety with hand-engraved tail feathers. http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/511254
No, no.........no harm, no foul. Please accept my apologies for not believing you. Citations are most important.
I see the potential hand engraved feathers but I do not see the S on the birds chest. SuperBird FS-901 was only on 52, if Im reading it right this is 54, afterwards the mint removed the employees foul play.
