1953 penny color

    Very new to this....would this penny be considered brown/red-brown/red? It seems shinier or top (red?)...after uploading photo, it seems you can't tell color on pic too well. Was there actually 3 colors of this penny, or just how it's "aged"? 20180619_021012.jpg

    I think your coin would be considered Brown. As far as I can tell from your photo.

    Brown. These coins were minted from copper and originally leave the mint bright red and shiny. Copper is a very reactive metal, so as they age the outer layer oxidizes and generally turns brown.

    Thank you all. After looking at the examples, it is definitely a light brown. I know the picture doesn't show it, but the upper part is quite shiny, like new almost. But it is 90% brown. I'm assuming this is also called patina.
    Thanks again - I'll work on setting up my camera and stop taking pics with my phone too!
