Yes I've seen them before, they are known for most all years but they are rare. (I think they are a little more common on 1943's since they were able to pass visual inspection much easier that year. Technically this is NOT an 11 cent error, just a off metal cent on dime planchet error. An 11-cent error is a cent struck on a struck dime. (Both coin designs are visible, a dime and a cent, hence 11 cent error.)
Congratulations bigd, Of course you may remember that I told you it was positively the real thing...For sure...I'm NOT lying..go back and read my post and ignore the "edit" thing. I just had to correct my spelling of "dime". http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=10067&page=1&pp=15
You hit the nail on the head Mikjo0. Even called the cleaning. Nice Job. Alot of ya'll called it like it is and thats why I love this site. Thanks again. bigd
Very nice coin!, I have seen one other. Iam waiting for my "BRASS INDIAN" cent to come back also.............
WOW...way to go Bigd!!!!!!! The guy that always gave me CoinWorld and lots of help in coins died last week....maybe I'll find a copy yet! Speedy
Wow bigd I just read about your coin, What a nice find...Very Happy for you...Congratulations !!!... cho cho
Whoa.! thanks ya'll for the kind words and the opinions,,input ect. One of my best finds thus far but all good things must come to an end. I do not collect these so as of today,,,this coin will be at ebay up on the block. Probably shouldn't auction it off but maybe the funds will help me find even better things searching. Told ya'll I'd keep you posted on the outcome and I guess this is it. One of my numisists goals that I told my daughter I would achieve very soon was to get my name in Coin World. Thank you Eric., pg 2. i appreciate that and my sons name in there will hopefully help launch his hobbie in this field. Its been a pleasure ya'll. Everyone on here is good people and really give the on line bad karma a real kick in the ass. Thanks and have an awesome turkey day. EDITED---Please no links to your own ebay items....you may post it in the OPEN forum but not here please Doug Huntley
When you go to sell it, you might want to offer a signed copy of the coin world mag containing the article. Your not just selling a coin, your selling a published coin That adds to the value for some folks. Congrats again
The OPEN forum is where members place BUY and SELL and TRADE offers....they may post ONLY after they have 10 posts total and they may only post one time per week in the OPEN forum. Here is a link... You might want to use the AUCTION forum and not the OPEN forum as the AUCTION forum is more for things like ebay items and such. http://www.cointalk.org/forum8-auction-listings.html Speedy Link to OPEN forum... http://www.cointalk.org/forum9-open.html
I read about your coin today in Coin World. Congrats for such a great find. I also read that you will ebay it. Good luck and nice coin.
Hey thanks smithrow1. I was unusually lucky this time. I did ebay it until friday but speedy says you can't supply any links on this forum.
Well I can't change the rules... :smile I'm sure since you posted it in the Auction forum everyone has seen it by now. Speedy
bigd, you mentioned me in the first post as one of the people you wanted a comment from. Well since in the first thread I said I was 99.9+% sure it was real, what else is there to say but CONGRATULATIONS, and that I am very happy for your sake that I'm not having to eat any crow. (Now just waiting for that "brass" indianhead to come back. )
